Viaplay Content Distribution has boarded seasons two and three of the acclaimed Swedish Nordic noir crime thriller Veronika, further expanding the international reach of SkyShowtime’s local original series, which has been recommissioned across more than 20 markets.

Following the strong global performance of season one – licensed across 55 international markets – Viaplay Content Distribution will handle international sales for the upcoming seasons of the series, produced by Bigster and starring Alexandra Rapaport (Gåsmamman, Honour) and Tobias Santelmann (Exit, The Arctic Convoy, Netflix’s upcoming Detective Hole) in the leading roles.

Season two of Veronika premiered on SkyShowtime on 8 December 2025, with season three scheduled to premiere in 2026. Seasons one and two are available now for buyers, while season three will be offered following its SkyShowtime premiere. Together, the three seasons form a premium, multi-season boxset, offering strong value for both streamers and linear broadcasters seeking established, high-performing Nordic noir with returning audiences.

Blending the atmospheric hallmarks of Nordic noir with psychological suspense and emotional depth, Veronika follows police officer Veronika Gren, a woman haunted by visions from the dead, as she navigates complex investigations while struggling to keep her personal life from unravelling.

Vanda Rapti, EVP Viaplay Select & Content Distribution, said: “Veronika is a standout example of contemporary Nordic noir – bold emotionally rich and driven by complex characters. The success of season one both on SkyShowtime as well as our Viaplay Film and Series SVOD in the US, and the UK, coupled with content licensing and Viaplay Select distribution of the show reaching 55 markets speaks for itself. Seasons two and three raise the stakes even further. Offering the series as a multi-season boxset gives buyers a powerful proposition, and we’re proud to continue our partnership with Bigster and SkyShowtime”

Calle Jansson, CEO & Producer at Bigster, added: “Veronika has proven itself as a series with real international appeal, and the response to season one exceeded our expectations. With Viaplay Content Distribution coming on board for seasons two and three, we have a strong partner who understands how to position premium Scandinavian drama in the global marketplace.”

Created and written by Katja Juras and Anna Ströman (Gåsmamman) and directed by Academy Award® nominee Mikael Håfström (Evil, Derailed), Veronika is produced by Calle Jansson and Mathias Gruffman at Bigster, with Alexandra Rapaport also serving as Executive Producer. The returning cast includes Tobias Santelmann, alongside Arvin Kananian (Triangle of Sadness, Caliphate), Eddie Eriksson Dominguez and Sarah Rhodin, with new cast members Gustav Hammarsten and Hanna Alström joining in season two. Further details on season three will be announced in due course.
