US inward investment in high-end television (HETV) production in the UK rose by 5.3% in 2025, reaching £2.5 billion.
Total inward investment across the UK film and TV sector was reported at £5.8 billion, up from £5 billion in 2024.
HETV production continues a steady but cautious recovery following the sharp decline caused by the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes. Major projects contributing to this growth include HBO’s Industry and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Netflix’s The Gentlemen season two, and Disney+’s Rivals.
International feature film production spend reached £3.3 billion, representing an approximately 30% year-on-year increase. Blockbuster titles such as Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday and Amazon MGM’s Masters of the Universe were among the major studio films shot in the UK.
The British Film Commission described the trend as “steady as she goes” growth, highlighting the development of a sustainable, long-term production ecosystem.
Tax incentives, enhanced VFX credits, production infrastructure and a highly skilled workforce continue to underpin the UK’s competitiveness.
The sector is continuing its gradual recovery following the combined impact of the pandemic, industrial action and wider global market uncertainty.
