Turkish award-winning actor Haluk Bilginer to share the lead roles with Angelina Jolie in Pablo Larrain’s Maria movie. The veteran actor will portray the Greek-born shipowner Aristotle Onassis. Jolie, on the other hand, will portray the world-famous opera singer Maria Callas. Pablo Larrain, who previously wrote the Jacqueline Kennedy biopic Jackie and the Lady Diana biopic Spencer, will this time tell the story of Maria Callas.
Written by Steven Knight, ‘Maria’ will be about the life of Maria Callas in Paris in the 1970s and the deep loneliness she experienced during that time. The film tells about when Aristotle Onassis left Maria Callas to marry Jackie Kennedy, the wife of John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated. After this betrayal, Callas moved first to Italy and then to France. Maria Callas died of a heart attack in 1977 at 52.
