Channel 5 is revisiting the enduring mystery of Madeleine McCann, this time focusing on her mother, Kate McCann with special ‘Suspect: Kate McCann’.
Amid renewed speculation over Madeleine’s disappearance, the announcement has caught the attention of viewers and true crime enthusiasts alike. The factual drama Suspect: Kate McCann will recreate the tense 48-hour period following Madeleine’s disappearance, when Kate McCann was formally declared an arguida (suspect) and questioned by Portuguese police.
Based on official police records and recorded testimony, the production stars Laura Bayston in the lead role. The 90-minute special is directed by Paula Wittig, with a screenplay by Philip Ralph.
Produced by Orchard Studios, the project is part of Channel 5’s growing slate of true crime dramas, which also includes works on the cases of Huw Edwards and Tracie Andrews.
