The 2025 Oscars, hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Hosted by renowned comedian Conan O’Brien, the night honored the best films of 2024.
The evening’s standout was Sean Baker’s Anora. The movie won five Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress for Mikey Madison, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing.
Adrien Brody secured the Best Actor award for his performance in The Brutalist, 22 years after his first win for The Pianist. Zoe Saldaña made history by becoming the first Dominican American to win an Oscar, earning Best Supporting Actress for her role in Emilia Pérez, while Kieran Culkin won Best Supporting Actor for his performance in A Real Pain, as anticipated.
Walter Salles’ Brazilian film I’m Still Here won Best International Feature Film. Despite being one of the most talked-about films of 2024, The Substance, starring Demi Moore, did not secure any awards at Oscars 2025.
