Two-time Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti is returning to the horror genre for the first time in nearly a decade with Boutique.
In Boutique, Giamatti will play Calvin, an American tourist who travels to an eerie English seaside town that inspired the work of his favorite reclusive author. However, his literary pilgrimage takes a dark turn when he becomes entangled in a murderous secret society that has infiltrated the entire town.
Production is being lined up for this summer. The project marks the feature directorial debut of writer-director Jim Gavin.
Giamatti will also produce alongside Dan Carey through their company Touchy Feely Films. Producers include James Harris and Mark Lane for Tea Shop Productions, and Guy Danella for XYZ Films, which will finance the film and handle world sales. UTA is co-representing domestic rights.
Giamatti praised the script as “scary, funny, bizarre, and strangely moving.”
Up next, the actor has projects with Tom McCarthy and Jesse Eisenberg in the works, and he is also attached to star in an Eli Roth Hostel series.
