Created by Joby Harold, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series first premiered on Disney+ back in 2022. Since then, the show has remained a topic of conversation, with strong rumors of a follow-up season. According to recent reports, the second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi is in production.
It’s worth noting that Disney has canceled several other Star Wars projects during this period. The Book of Boba Fett and The Acolyte were both canceled after their first seasons. Andor, created by Tony Gilroy and highly praised by audiences, concluded last spring with its second season. Meanwhile, the future of Skeleton Crew, created by Christopher Ford and Jon Watts and starring Jude Law, remains uncertain.
The Mandalorian is set to transition to the big screen with the film The Mandalorian & Grogu. Currently, the only live-action series in active production for a new season is Ahsoka, whose second season is set to join the Disney+ catalog in 2026.
Given these circumstances, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Obi-Wan Kenobi, which stood out with strong viewership and a dedicated fanbase, return for a second season. In fact, Scottish actor Ewan McGregor, who plays Obi-Wan Kenobi, has openly expressed his desire for the series to continue. In an earlier interview, McGregor shared his thoughts on the matter shortly, saying, “I would love to do the second season, but there’s no talk of it yet. There is a lot going on at Disney.”
It’s also known that Hayden Christensen, who portrayed Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, is eager to return for more. Star Wars fans were delighted to see Christensen’s character included in the Ahsoka series.
The Obi-Wan Kenobi series takes place between Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. In a potential second season, what might unfold between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader has already sparked considerable curiosity.
