Lionsgate has created the role of Chief AI Officer for the first time, signaling a deeper push into artificial intelligence.
The company has appointed Kathleen Grace, formerly chief strategy officer at IP protection and licensing-focused AI platform Vermillio, to the newly created position. Grace will report to CEO Jon Feltheimer and join Lionsgate’s senior decision-making team.
Her remit includes supporting creative processes through AI, driving efficiencies across production and operations, and safeguarding the intellectual property of both the studio and its talent partners.
The appointment was announced alongside Lionsgate’s Q3 financial results. The company reported a 15% year-on-year revenue increase, reaching $724.3 million.
Revenue in the motion picture division rose 35% to $421.2 million, while TV production revenue declined 25% to $303.1 million, primarily due to the timing of episodic deliveries. Meanwhile, library sales grew 10% over the past 12 months, totaling $1.05 billion.
Lionsgate had previously signaled its artifical intelligence ambitions in 2024, when it became one of the first major studios to publicly announce a partnership with AI company Runway.
