The Hubert Bals Fund has selected ten projects for the pilot edition of HBF+Brazil Co-Development Support, launched through a new partnership with Brazil.
The programme aims to support Brazilian filmmakers developing their second or third feature-length fiction films, with each selected project receiving €10,000 in development funding.
The initiative is led by the Hubert Bals Fund under the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), in cooperation with Spcine, RioFilme, Projeto Paradiso, and newly joined partner Embratur, Brazil’s tourism board.
The selected projects reflect Brazil’s geographical and cultural diversity, with authorities emphasizing the programme’s goal of strengthening the international visibility and long-term sustainability of Brazilian cinema.
Selected titles include Bicho, Brasa, Enquanto Não Voltam, Laguna, Múmia Tropical, and Olhos de Yara, among others.
