Austin Butler and Jeremy Allen White will star in A24’s new crime movie Enemies, from Henry Dunham, best known for Bushido and The Standoff at Sparrow Creek.
According to the film’s synopsis, “A relentless detective and an infamous contract killer collide in a deadly game of cat and mouse.” The casting was confirmed this Wednesday, with the rest of the cast to be announced.
Production for Enemies will begin in Chicago this summer, with Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen of Square Peg joining A24 and Alejandro De Leon.

Knudsen has collaborated with Aster on his movies Midsommar and Hereditary, and also produced Robert Eggers’ The Witch. Meanwhile, De Leon has executive-produced Aster’s latest Western dark comedy, Eddington, starring Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, and Emma Stone. Josh Bachove, the producer of Minari starring Steven Yeun and The Little Hours starring Aubrey Plaza, will executive produce Enemies.
Butler has also worked with Aster on Eddington for A24 and is currently working with Matt Smith, Zoe Kravitz, and Regina King for Darren Aronofsky’s next film, Caught Stealing.
On the other hand, The Bear’s Emmy-winning lead Allen White is working on the Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere, to be released in 2025. He will also star in the new Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, alongside Pascal, directed by Jon Favreau.
