Exciting news awaits Doctor Who fans as David Tennant returns to his iconic role as the Tenth Doctor.
Tennant, who originally portrayed the character between 2005 and 2010, will star in Big Finish Productions’ new 15-part audio drama, Doctor Who – The Tenth Doctor Adventures. The first 12 episodes, each an hour long, are set to release bimonthly starting summer 2027, with the remaining three available as a boxset at a later date.
The audio series promises surprises, including the Tenth Doctor teaming up with some of his other incarnations during their galaxy-spanning journey. While story details are scarce, Big Finish’s Creative Director Nicholas Briggs emphasized that Tennant’s return, despite his busy schedule, ensures a thrilling and unpredictable experience for fans. Tennant described the project as a “rollercoaster ride” where one unexpectedly finds themselves saving the universe again.
This return follows Tennant’s surprising 2023 comeback as the Fourteenth Doctor after Jodie Whittaker’s exit. With Ncuti Gatwa succeeding him, the next iteration of the Doctor remains uncertain. Fans are speculating that Tennant may even reunite with Billie Piper in the upcoming series.
