DeAPlaneta Entertainment has added iconic children’s brand Sesame Street to its growing classic portfolio following an exclusive deal with Sesame Workshop, the global nonprofit producer.
DeAPlaneta Entertainment will act as licensing agents in CEE for the series, exclusively managing all merchandising, publishing, home video, audio and promotional licensing related to the Sesame Street brand in this territory.
Based at DeAPlaneta Entertainment’s CEE office, Aleksandra Gawryszewska, Head of Sales CEE, and Ewelina Plochocka, Senior Category Manager, will be the strategic contacts working on licensing agreements in the region. This follows the international success stories achieved by the company’s offices in Milan, Paris, and Munich, which operate in coordination with DeAPlaneta Entertainment’s headquarters in Barcelona and Madrid.
A staple of children’s entertainment since its premiere on television in 1969, Sesame Street stars beloved characters such as Elmo, Ernie & Bert, and Cookie Monster, blending animation and music to help children grow smarter, stronger, and kinder.
Diego Ibáñez Belaustegui, Chief Brand Officer of DeAPlaneta Entertainment, expressed his satisfaction with the agreement: “DeAPlaneta’s history with Sesame Street goes back more than 20 years and includes collaborations for television, licensing, and even theme parks in countries such as Spain and Italy. We are delighted to extend our friendship to Poland and the CEE countries, which offer great potential for an evergreen brand with such a long tradition as Sesame Street”.
Bernhard Gloeggler, Vice President and General Manager for Sesame Workshop Europe, added: “We are thrilled with this new partnership with DeAPlaneta and to bring our beloved Sesame Street characters and joyful, playful learning to children in the region. CEE is one of the fast-growing markets. With our expanded distribution footprint, and DeAPlaneta’s licensing expertise, this is the perfect moment to align forces. Sonja Thernes, Director Consumer Products Europe, will lead the activities from our end in the collaboration with DeAPlaneta”.
