Content Americas 2026: Eccho Rights’ Barbora Suster and Handan Özkubat on their Highlights

At a notably busy Content Americas market, Eccho Rights’ Head of Turkish Drama Handan Özkubat and Head of Latin America Barbora Suster point to clear signs of recovery and renewed confidence across Latin America. With growing buyer engagement, strategic interest from key markets such as Brazil, and strong momentum behind titles like Behind the Veil and I Am Mother, Eccho Rights sees Turkish drama regaining its position as a compelling and competitive offering in the region.

How was Content Americas 2026 for Eccho Rights?

Barbora Suster: The first two days were particularly busy. I believe that key buyers and decision-makers attended the market and were ready to make decisions. We are hopeful that we will close several deals for our new content. There is strong interest in Behind the Veil, and we clearly see the advantage of having a Spanish dub. Latin America seems to be emerging from its crisis, but broadcasters are now looking for long-running, audience-grabbing series that are more affordable than traditional primetime productions. The strong performance of Behind the Veil in Turkey has also attracted significant attention.

How do you assess the current Latin American market?

Handan Özkubat: I truly believe Latin America is coming back. In previous markets, many clients raised concerns about pricing and purchasing power, but we did not hear these issues at all during this event. This is a clear signal that the region is moving in a more positive direction. Brazil, in particular, has become a very important market for us. Most recently, we sold I Am Mother to Brazil, which is notable as Turkish series are rarely sold there. Since there is a high number of single mothers in Latin America, these types of stories resonate strongly with audiences, especially when combined with high production quality.

I believe demand for Turkish drama is rising again. Previously, there was more interest in entertainment formats and locally produced shows, but now Latin America is returning to drama. I expect the LATAM region to enter a new growth phase, with increased sales ahead.
