Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) and Producers Guild of Korea (PGK) have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to boost co-production opportunities.

The agreement follows several trade missions Canada made to Korea in 2025 as part of the Year of Cultural Exchange and their recent attendance at the Asian Contents and Film Market (ACFM) in September 2025.

Canada and Korea also modernized their co-production treaty and they are expected to officially announce it in 2026. Canada’s production strength and Korea’s creative and technological structure are expected to result in high-profile content targeting global audiences. With the co-production agreement, the countries are hoping to increase the number of new projects, accelerate financing and production processes and boost their shows’ expansion to global markets.

CMPA board chair and co-owner and executive producer at Eagle Vision, Kyle Irving underlined the importance of the MOU, saying: “Given the strengths of our two production sectors, there is a massive opportunity for Canadian and Korean producers to create what could be some of the most compelling content on the planet.”

Lee Dong-ha, president of PGK, shared the organization’s vision and said: “We look forward to seeing the exceptional creators and production talent from both nations come together, supported by close collaboration among producers, to bring bolder and more creative global content to audiences around the world.”
