Book adaptations set to premiere in 2026 are shaping up.
Bestselling authors such as George R. R. Martin, Julia Quinn, Diana Gabaldon, Patricia Cornwell and Liane Moriarty stand out among the titles with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and Bridgerton Season 4 being the most anticipated book adaptations.
Apple TV+ emerges as a strong contender with The Last Thing He Told Me season 2 and Margo’s Got Money Troubles. A-list stars including Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Garner, Elle Fanning and Amanda Seyfried are involved in the projects.
Young adult, romance, crime and historical dramas are prevalent within book adaptations and they will premiere on Netflix, Apple TV+, Prime Video, HBO Max, Peacock and Disney+.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (HBO Max) Based on George R. R. Martin – The Hedge Knight
The show will have six episodes and it’s based on Martin’s prequel novella, set before A Song of Ice and Fire. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set to launch Jan. 18.

Bridgerton Season 4 (Netflix) Based on Julia Quinn – An Offer From a Gentleman
Benedict and Sophie’s love story will take center stage in the new season. Season 4 will launch in two parts with the first part airing Jan. 29 and second on Feb. 26.

The Last Thing He Told Me Season 2 (Apple TV) Based on Laura Dave – The First Time I Saw Him
The show’s second season will be based on the author’s new sequel, which will be published on Jan. 6. Season 2 will star Judy Greer, Rita Wilson and more and will premiere on Feb. 20.

Outlander Season 8 (Starz) Based on Diana Gabaldon – Outlander
The final season of the nine-novel adaptation is slated to arrive in March.

Scarpetta (Prime Video) Based on Patricia Cornwell – Scarpetta
Nicole Kidman will be leading the show centering on a medical examiner who advocates for victims and unmasks a serial killer. The show already landed a two-season order.

Margo’s Got Money Troubles (Apple TV) Based on Rufi Thorpe – Margo’s Got Money Troubles
The show will have Elle Fanning as Margo, a college dropout single mom trying to raise her child and turning to OnlyFans as a new source of income. The show with a star-studded cast will debut April 15.

Other Book Adaptations to Come
- Marissa Stapley’s Lucky will launch on Apple TV+ with stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Drew Starkey.
- Emily Henry’s Happy Place and Emily Perkins’ Lioness are optioned for TV shows.
- Sally Hepworth’s Darling Girls’ TV adaptation is in the works. Just as Zoe Foster Blake’s Things Will Calm Down. The same applies to Liane Moriarty’s The Last Anniversary and Here One Moment.
- Holly Gramazio’s The Husbands will launch at Apple TV with Juno Temple as the star.
- Jennette McCurdy’s I’m Glad My Mom Died will premiere on Apple TV with Jennifer Aniston.
- Elin Hilderbrand’s The Five-Star Weekend will be on Peacock with Jennifer Garner. While the author’s Swan Song will be the focus of season 2 of Netflix’s The Perfect Couple.
