The cast of the movie Bir Cumhuriyet Şarkısı (A Republic Song), which is being prepared by Beşiktaş Cultural Centre (BKM) for the 100th anniversary of the Republic, is expanding with new names.

It is reported that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk will be played by Ertan Saban and Birce Akalay will play Nimet Vahid, the first Turkish female opera singer.

Akalay had last played Halide Edip Adıvar, one of the important names in the history of the Republic, in the film The Colour of Victory by Abdullah Oğuz.

It is said that Salih Bademci will play Ahmet Adnan Saygun, one of the leading roles of the series, and Melis Sezen will play Saygun’s wife, pianist Mediha Boler.

CAST CHANGE IN BKM’S BİR CUMHURİYET ŞARKISI

While it was previously said that Boran Kuzum would portray the role of Ahmet Adnan Saygun, there has been a change in this role. It is reported that the reason for this change is that the bank supporting the movie and the bank where Boran Kuzum is the brand ambassador are rival banks.

The movie, directed by Yağız Alp Akaydın, is set to take place in 1930s Türkiye, shedding light on its social, cultural, and political landscape and and focuses on a story that will make the audience both laugh and feel emotional.
