BYUtv has teamed up with Toronto-based production company Shaftesbury and Beta Film on the new veterinary drama series Barton Vet.
The series is currently filming in Ontario, Canada, with Beta Film handling worldwide distribution rights.
Positioned as a cozy veterinary procedural, Barton Vet blends medical drama, romance, and heartfelt storytelling rooted in community and the bond between humans and animals. The series stars Georgina Reilly as Dr. Kate Barton, an adventurous and driven veterinarian who takes over her family’s rural clinic following the death of her father.
The story centers on saving animals while navigating family ties, community life, financial hardship, and Kate’s own journey through grief and self-healing. With its focus on rural dynamics and emotional storytelling, the series highlights the deep connection between people and their animals.
The cast also includes Nadeem Umar-Khitab, Sonja Smits, Katia Edith Wood, Carson A. Egan, Kristopher Turner, and Noah Zulfikar.
Felipe Rodriguez directs the series, with the producing team featuring creatives behind Heartland, Nurses, Virgin River, and Hudson & Rex.
Barton Vet is presented as a family-friendly, character-driven drama with strong potential to grow into a long-running franchise.
