Amazon Prime Video has cast Ryan Hurst as Kratos in the live-action TV adaptation of the popular video game franchise God of War.
Hurst is no stranger to the franchise, having previously voiced Thor before in God of War: Ragnarök.
The series will be based on the two most recent God of War games and will center on the father-son journey of Kratos and his 10-year-old son, Atreus. The story follows Kratos and Atreus as they embark on a journey to scatter the ashes of Kratos’ wife and Atreus’ mother, Faye, in accordance with her final wish.
Ronald D. Moore, best known for Outlander and Battlestar Galactica, serves as the showrunner of the series.
The first two episodes will be directed by Frederick E. O. Toye. Producers include Cory Barlog, one of the creators of the game franchise, alongside Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, and PlayStation Productions.
