ABC has pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live! “indefinitely” after backlash over the host’s comments about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The decision was made after Nexstar Media expressed its intent to pre-empt airings of the program.
Nexstar Media, one of the biggest U.S. TV station owners, said it “strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets.”
During his Monday monologue, Kimmel said the “MAGA gang” was using Kirk’s murder for political points. “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them,” Kimmel said. Kirk was shot and killed on Sept. 10 during a debate at Utah Valley University.
