NATPE GLOBAL 2025

We’re at NATPE GLOBAL 2025!

With Miami’s sunny skies as the perfect backdrop, Natpe Global 2025 brings together industry professionals from around the world to discuss the latest series, stories, and trends. At Episode, we’re thrilled to be part of this vibrant event once again, ready to share the latest updates and insights on Turkish productions.

In an exclusive interview, Goryana Vasileva, Sales Manager for USA, LATAM, and Western Europe at Calinos Entertainment, shares her insights into how complex love stories like Forbidden Fruit and Farah have captivated audiences in Latin America. We also take a closer look at Calinos’ recent achievements, including the success of their latest hit, Love with Lavender Scent.

Can Okan, Founder and CEO of Inter Medya, and Beatriz Cea Okan, VP and Head of Sales and Acquisitions, join us to reflect on their successful 2024. They highlight standout titles like Valley of Hearts, Love and Pride, and Deception, which have been especially popular in Latin America, and introduce their newest one, Heartstrings.

This special issue takes a closer look at the stories, achievements, and impact of Turkish dramas on the industry. One of our team’s favorites, Dilemma, is reviewed by Özlem Özdemir, who highlights how its gripping narrative and unexpected twists keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Oya Doğan delves into the remarkable comeback of family dramas this season. Once hugely popular 10–15 years ago, they have made a strong return to the screen. She explores why this genre continues to resonate with audiences today, providing a fascinating look at the connection between past and present trends. Meanwhile, Burak Sakar analyzes the fierce ratings battle on Turkish television. In his detailed breakdown of the 60 series that aired in 2024, he highlights the standout shows and trends that have defined the year. It’s a must-read for anyone interested in the current state of Turkish TV.

The interviews in this issue are also a must-read. Our editor-in-chief, Oben Budak, spoke with Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, the creators of Disney+’s new Star Wars series, Skeleton Crew. They shared their creative journey in building this exciting new chapter. Meanwhile, our editor, Yağmur Çöl, attended the Madrid premiere of Prime Video’s highly anticipated film, Culpa Tuya. She sat down with lead actor Gabriel Guevara and Mercedes Ron, the author of the books that inspired the trilogy.

Additionally, Zeynep Gürer and Mert Gürer, in their article, focus on the portrayal of women in period dramas, emphasizing bold and groundbreaking female characters.

Finally, Yasemin Şefik dives into the way Turkish dramas often explore themes of class and gender through love stories. Her in-depth analysis discusses how these themes have grown more common since the early 2000s and why they continue to resonate.

At EPISODE, we look for hope and inspiration in every story we tell, and we look forward to taking you along on each new page.

Enjoy the new issue!
