Produced by Ay Yapım, El Turco is the first Turkish series filmed entirely in English. Starring Can Yaman and directed by Uluç Bayraktar, with a script by Kerem Deren and Çisil Hazal Tenim, the series is available not only in Türkiye but also in 31 other countries. The highly anticipated show recently was the first and only Turkish series to be featured on IMDb’s list of “Most Anticipated New Shows of 2025.”

Inspired by true events, El Turco follows the story of Janissary soldier Hasan Balaban, who is wounded during the Second Siege of Vienna in 1683 and finds refuge in the Italian Alps, in the village of Moena, where he soon becomes a legendary hero.

Alongside Can Yaman, the cast includes international stars such as Greta Ferro, Will Kemp, David Nykl, Kieran O’Reilly, Veronica Ferres, and Madalena Aragão, as well as acclaimed Turkish actors like Hüseyin Avni Danyal, Haluk Piyes, and Armağan Oğuz.

Based on Orhan Yeniaras’ book El Turco: The Untold Story of the Second Siege of Vienna, the series stands out with its high production quality, stunning locations, and impressive costume design.

Filmed in Budapest and spanning six episodes, El Turco is now streaming in full on GAİN.
