A fire recently broke out on the set of Portrait of a Scandalous Family, a popular series on NOW TV, completely destroying its main filming location, the Şakir Paşa Mansion, and leaving it unusable.

Portrait of a Scandalous Family‘s official Twitter account shared a statement about the incident:
“At around 1:30 a.m., a major fire broke out on our set, completely destroying the Şakir Paşa Mansion. Thankfully, no one was on-site at the time, so there were no injuries or casualties. Expert teams are currently investigating the cause of the fire, including the possibility of sabotage. We are committed to rebuilding the mansion as quickly as possible and resuming production without delay.”

Producer Fatih Aksoy also commented on the situation, stating that the fire began around 1:30 a.m. and that firefighters responded immediately after being alerted. However, the set had already been completely ruined. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown.

After the fire, Portrait of a Scandalous Family, was also subjected to a financial penalty by RTÜK. The series, along with Red Roses, was fined 3% of its earnings. RTÜK has imposed similar penalties on several other productions in recent months.

According to Birsen Altuntaş, prior to the fire, descendants of the Şakir Paşa family had publicly stated that the series was being produced without their permission. They reportedly filed a lawsuit against the production, but the case was ultimately dismissed.
